Sub: At least don’t project us as a villain!

Dear Sir,
On the name of public-interest our media is publishing & covering only one side of the story named ‘Indefinite strike by Oil Sector Officers’ Association’.
All the news channels(including DD news) are continuously flashing government views only, like shri Murli Deora,Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas & petroleum secretary shri R.S. Pandey, but it is again a shame on our print & electronic media that other side views, that is of OSOA president & vice-president were never convered in the media.

I shall argue that the government hi-jacked the media again and all news channels showing that the fault is not at the governments’ part but it is responsibility of OSOA to maintain normalcy in the system. I STROGLY FEEL THAT STING OPERATIONS AGAINST MEDIA ARE REQUIRED AT THIS JUNCTURE. And such kind of acts will lead to total loss of faith in government and democracy.

Shri R.S pandey made the statement at several occasions on various news channels that a junior most grade officer is getting salary of more than 1 lacs per month. It is also with reference to the appeal published by your newspaper dated 07.01.09, Page No.15 on behalf of Ministry of P&NG, the sources from which the secretary has taken figures are false & mis-leading & they have played with figures and it is not a big thing for any graduate. I shall argue with you for the salary figures that has been published in appeal by your newspaper dated 07.01.09.

Sir,the media/the press is considered to be an vital factor for evolution, development & sustenance of democracy in any country and media has to play a role where pluralistic approaches are appreciated and views from both ends are addressed equally.

Due to biased media coverage, we all OSOA members have been projected as a villain & those all declared themselves as heroes, so may I know that the villain is working day-in and day-out so that a very crucial sector can keep the heart of our economy throbbing.

I appeal you to investigate the authenticity of figures & you are requested to contact our finance department for further details and investigation.Shri R.S. pandey has even added the cost of chair being provided at our work place and hance, figures are mis-leading.But,the truth is that we are having in-hand salary of Rs.25-30 thousand only(Including HRA) at entry level

It is an effort to unravel the hidden impulses of few bureaucrats & may be the government. By reducing our incentives they have de-motivated us to a lower level & demoralized all our association & all our employees. Such a crucial sector of India is ignored in terms of compensation so that TODAY’S IGNORANCE CAN BE TOMMOROW’S PERSEVERENCE FOR CORRUPTION/NEPOTISM & FAVOURTISM.It may be the turning point & sinking of our Oil-TITANIC.

Thank You

Yours truly,

The oil psu pay revision has been pending since January 2007. The last revision was in 1997. The salary figures bandied about by the Petroleum Secretary are rubbish. A look at the payslip of any psu employee will expose the lie. The government was asked to sort out issues several times in the last two years without proper response. The news channels branding the oil psu officers as traitors, terrorists, etc. is particularly condemnable. How can anyone be foolish enough to compare our soldiers and their officers with anyone in the civilian sector? Oil psu officers are recruited after stringent tests and interviews. They also have to deal with extremely high technology, which demands the best quality of brains. Otherwise, the news channels should be asked to also compare how much, for example, Mr. Subhash Chandra is paid per month compared to an oil psu Chairman, if the comparison they have used is considered to be logical. The politicians, barring a few, cannot be blamed since their IQ levels are anybody's guess. The whole chaos has been created by an IAS-Reliance-Amar Singh lobby, apparently. These same bureaucrats and their political masters consider these psu's as their private fiefdoms. Ask anyone in a psu what sort of treatment these people get when they visit these psus. Ask these politicians how much these psus have to contribute to the political party in power. After keeping a salary revision pending for more than two years, that also when the last one was way back in 1997, they now have the gall to suggest that the psu officers' demands are absolutely unreasonable and unjustified. One may also compare how much an officer in a similar position in a private organisation earns. The psu officers are still not asking for the moon, keeping in mind the situation in the country.

Some channels showed how psu officials visit tourist spots with their families. Do the ministers and bureaucrats not do the same? Do people in private enterprises not do the same? Most importantly, it is to be remembered that the oil psus will anyway be paying the salaries from their own funds. Please also remember that the bureaucrat and the minister are paid out of the taxes that are paid out of the hard-earned money of our citizens, although they normally behave as if the money belongs to them.

it is a worthful step taken by the oil sector officers . these oil sectors are the cash cow of our economy and thats why they deserve for the best salary in india. government outlook about their salaries is very rediculous. and i hope for their success. only these public sector hold the indian economy during that time when world economy is under recession. and i heartly support their motive and the way they opt to kneel down government.

The central government bureaucreats are blind and has become heartless. they are not able to see the truth. So in this situation , i cant see any otherway to protect their benifits. when these companies support to fill the bags of central government , why the government does not say anything that time. " they are making their companies in profit by their hard works". Thats why these companies are in NAVRATNA status. So i request to all my viewers and readers to give the good wishes and back support to all officers for finding the right issues.
